The 2016 Guichen Bay Challenge was held in Robe on Sunday the 17th of January, in conjunction with the Robe Boat and Fishing Festival. This is a major event for the Robe Yacht Club, as it draws sailors from surrounding regional yacht clubs for a four to six hour race, around Robe's beautiful Guichen Bay.

The open class event is divided into two divisions - Monohulls and Catamarans.  The race began slowly with little wind, and picked up for a divine, yet competitive sail around the bay.

The winner of the Monohull division was awarded to Chris Lynch from Port MacDonnell Yacht Club, in his Noelex 25. The winner of the Catamaran division was awarded to Jeff Southall from Lacapede Bay Yacht Club in his Nacra catamaran.

A major sponsor for this event was Governor Robe Wines. The company is proud to support such a great race, and the Robe Boat and Fishing Festival was the perfect back drop for the day. Thousands of spectators enjoyed the festivities!
